Senior Leadership Director
Shatara Hammond serves as the Director of Leadership Development, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering educational excellence. With a career spanning over 16 years in education, Shatara has held various leadership roles in school improvement, teacher development, and instructional support, consistently driving impactful initiatives that elevate student success and professional growth.
Shatara began her career in education as a Teacher and Mentor Teacher in Chicago Public Schools, where she played a pivotal role in shaping curriculum delivery and mentoring fellow educators to build effective teaching practices. She then moved on to work as an Instructional Specialist in the Reading Language Arts department within the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), where she supported educators in enhancing literacy instruction and student outcomes. Later, Shatara served in a variety of roles within DISD, managing district-wide efforts to support and improve the performance of underperforming schools, ensuring that students had access to high-quality education and resources.
Currently, as the Director of Leadership Development, Shatara empowers leaders to develop shared visions with their teams, create strong systems for goal alignment, and implement data-driven practices that foster collective efficacy. She supports leaders with cultivating the gifts and talents of their staff through collaborative Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and intentional coaching, all aimed at strengthening student academic outcomes. With a passion for leadership development and school improvement, Shatara brings extensive expertise in designing and scaling programs that enhance educator growth, support strong systems, and drive school performance.
